2026 - Week 32
I am currently staying at a friend’s cottage on the Sunshine Coast and just achieved Inbox Zero. I figured I shouldn’t stop here but instead write this week’s notes and ride this productivity high for as long as I can.
It felt like the end of an era, but I exported my entries from Day One and deleted my account. To be fair, I stopped using the product a long time ago as writing in a paper journal suited me better. It didn’t seem right to keep deeply personal notes on someone server’s somewhere so after reading a bunch of old notes, I exported all the journal into archives of JSON and images, then closed my account. I briefly considered making something out of those files but quickly realized there was no point for it at the moment.
I signed up for a 10k in October and for another season of my beloved run club. I have barely run during the summer due to the heat, work and various life changes, so I’m excited to make time for it again (he says until he has to wake up at 7 every Saturdays this fall). I’m hoping to get a similar level of commitment as my marathon training, especially with food. I never took the time to write a debrief about my marathon training, but my biggest struggle was eating properly before long runs. Once I figured this out, I was able to run 30km without bonking and it made the whole experience so much better. This also means counting dogs again, so I’m probably going to dust off the website and tweak the design a little bit. I’ve asked on Mastodon if people had suggestions here, but I already have a list of improvements in mind.
Robb decided to shut down Echofeed, which is a huge bummer because I liked the simplicity of the product to share posts on Mastodon. It’s hard to argue with someone who decided to prioritize their mental health and to stop fighting with badly implemented RSS feeds. I’m not sure what I’m going to do now, but it’s not like I need an immediate solution. I might even consider sharing posts manually for a while, like some kind of animal.
I did start a tiny project using RSS (or most specifically, the Feedbin API) to build a nicer reading experience for myself, but it was mostly an excuse to participate to HTML Day. Ironically, I barely wrote any HTML that day and spent most of my time trying to master Penpot instead. I’m hoping I’ll have something to share soon, even if that project is just for me.
As previously mentioned last week I tried Mini Skyline and printed a model of Vancouver with the route I ran for my marathon. It looks like absolute garbage, but the tool definitely has some potential, so I haven’t given up yet.
We watched season 10 of Scrubs and started watching season 4 of Ted Lasso. I had mostly erased Scrubs’ season 9 from my mind since it wasn’t great so it felt like a second chance to end it properly. Ted Lasso season 4 felt a little unnecessary but I’m intrigued. I’ve had this (pointless and tiring) conversation a couple of time where people are trying to justify that nobody cares about women sports, which is both annoying and untrue.
On that note, I’m going to go back to the last level of Powerwash Simulator, reading volume 3 of Wax & Wayne or… look for seals on the Sechlet Inlet.
