So much for trying to maintain a streak from last year, but it helped realizing that it doesn’t really matter. It feels good to be in the mood for writing again thought, even if it’s just for personal updates and random links.

• This week-end we watched Roofman which I expected to be funnier than it actually was. I didn’t expect the movie to be based on the real story about a guy who robbed McDonald’s and hid from the police for months in a Toy’R Us. The movie was good, but too long and too dark for me. I had a much better time watching The Dink to the point where I’m almost considering trying pickleball.

• I bought a Pinecil in the hope of finally learning how to solder. I even took a soldering and electronics 101 at Vancouver’s Makerlabs. It was fun but again, I need to take the time to it. I now have everything I need to build some Keymera that I want to gift to people. I’ve also discovered Mini Skyline which generates maps that you can print. You can even import GPX files to be included, so I have some ideas I wanna try. The tool was a little overwhelming the first time I tried it because of the number of options it gives you, I have all the GPX files from my previous runs (including my marathon) so that could be fun to print.

• At now 39, I’ve finally started working on getting my driving license. I never felt like I needed it, being more of a passenger princess and a bike or transit kind of guy, but I’ve ran out of excuses. Especially when my partner is unable to drive and I can only carry so much groceries on my bike. I’m hoping to have it by the end of the year, if things go my way.

• After playing a whole lot of Hades 2 on my Steamdeck, I’ve switched back to making stuff clean again in Powerwash Simulator. It’s a little ridiculous, but playing this game while listening to a podcast makes for a very relaxing time.

• After re-reading the first Mistborn trilogy and the Mistborn Secret History that I missed the first time, I’m now in the second book of the Wax &nd Wayne Series. Reading them in short succession as helped me notice so many things I’d missed the first time. I’ve always been frutrated that I couldn’t read The Lord of the Rings books without falling asleep, but I recently realized that a rich universe like The Cosmere scratched that hitch for me.
